N’Mare, The Descent.

N'Mare, The Descent.

Mixed media with Horse’s Skull. Photographed by John Lohman.
Usually I only work with road kill and when a horse’s skull from an abattoir was gifted to me I was initially loath to use it. However during chemotherapy I decided to create this piece to combine feelings of my own descent into illness and madness, with those of my perception of the horse’s violent death. We traveled through confusion, pain and darkness, towards reconciliation and healing, together.
